PLEASE NOTE:
To Park at this location, you will need a Northwest Forest Recreation Pass. You can get the $5 pass at that link, or bring your annual pass if you have one. ALL other mushroom-picking permits will be provided.
DIRECTIONS
- If you Google it, please google Pete Lake Trail Head (North of Roslyn, Wa)
- This location is about 2 hrs from Seattle with Traffic.
- From Seattle, Drive East on I-90
- Take Exit 80 to Roslyn/ Suncadia
- Exit and take a left onto BullFrog Rd. Continue on Bullfrog Rd.
- Take a Left WA-903 N, Salmon La Sac Rd
- You will be driving along side the East side of Cle Elum Lake
- Take a Left on NF 46
- Take a Right on NF/FS 4616 driving alongside the East side of Cooper Lake, you will pass the Owhi Campground and Cooper Lake Day Use areas
- Just past Owhi Campground, you will take a left onto NF113
- Continue on until you hit the Pete Lake Trail Head.
WHAT TO BRING/ WEAR

- It’s the PNW. Dress for the weather. We suggest a rain jacket, dressing in layers, and hiking boots (strongly recommended).
- Bug Spray. While it may be getting a bit cooler the insects still love to come and “say hello” so bug spray is recommended.
- Bring a small backpack and water bottle, and any snacks you’d like while you’re out in the forest.
- Some snacks and drinks will be provided at the start of the hunt. Please bring whatever you need to keep you and your party happy throughout the day.
- While we LOVE dogs here, please leave them at home. No dogs are allowed on this foraging trip. This is for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
EATING OF WILD MUSHROOMS
By attending this event I agree and acknowledge the consumption of wild fungi is widely recognized as an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious illness, permanent disability, or death. Even mushrooms that are well known to be non-toxic for the great majority of people can potentially cause allergic reactions and other idiosyncratic symptoms in certain susceptible individuals. These symptoms may be caused or worsened by undercooking, overindulgence, or by drinking alcohol. Every person should cautiously test their own tolerance for unfamiliar species of wild mushrooms.
I acknowledge that collecting wild mushrooms commonly involves strenuous physical exertion in rugged, high-altitude wilderness locations, and entails many known and unknown risks to human health and life. By way of example only, these risks include but are not limited to slips and falls; weather-related hazards such as heat stroke, hypothermia, exposure, and lightning strike; infectious diseases; rockfall or avalanche; altitude sickness; allergic reactions; drowning; penetrating or lacerating injuries from tools, branches, or other features of the local flora and terrain; and insect bites and stings, snakebites, and other wild animal attacks.
These serious injuries or illnesses may occur in areas remote from medical care, and the availability of emergency medical services or emergency transportation to medical facilities cannot be assured.
