We work with breeders across North America (rescue programs too), evaluate dogs from many breeds, and have developed specific canine scent detection assessments — adapted from K9 explosive and narcotics detection protocols — to identify the dogs most suited to truffle work before you commit to one.
Even puppies from the same litter can have dramatically different temperaments, drive, and scent aptitude. We test for the traits that translate to reliable performance in the orchard, not just general trainability.
