Presented by: Truffle Dog Co & Willamette Valley Truffles

At this event you’ll get to hunt for both wild truffles (Native Oregon White truffles) and those famous to chefs all around the world, Perigord truffles. After the Wild Hunt & Truffle Orchard Tour head into the Farmhouse to sample a spectacular seasonal truffle menu prepared by local Chef Andrew Hroza the Executive Chef at Ninkasi’s Living Room and local Oregon wine pairings.

You’ll interact with the truffle dogs at the Wild Hunting location in damp Douglas Fir forests as well as get to meet different dogs the farmhouse, trekking through the Oak and Hazelnut truffle grove, and follow the dogs among the truffle trees searching for the elusive fungi. We’ll share with you the secrets of wild truffle hunting as well as the history of the Truffiere and cultivation, and when the dogs find a truffle you’ll have the opportunity to sniff the soil for the mouthwatering smell of the unearthed truffle- a rare treat, before heading back to the farmhouse to enjoy the spectacular seasonal menu crafted by Chef Andrew in combination with wine pairings from the Oregon Wine Lab and William Rose Wines.

*Please leave your dogs at home or in the cars, as they are not allowed on the truffle orchard during this event, nor in the wild hunting location.

We ask guests to arrive 15 minutes prior to starting.

10 am- Hunt for White Oregon truffles! Our guides will take you to a special private truffle patch and show you the world of truffle hunting with dogs in the wild.

Please no dogs! The truffle hunt itself will last about 1 hr and then we head down to the Truffiere to hunt for Perigord Truffles.

11:30 am — Join us at the Truffiere Farmhouse for Lunch at 12 pm where we’ll connect with Chef Andrew Hroza the Executive Chef at Ninkasi’s Living Room and recently voted “best local chef” by the Eugene Weekly! While enjoying your sips and bites you’ll learn plenty of tips and tricks to using truffles in just about any dish!

1:30 pm--The exciting part. Let’s go hunting for Perigord Truffle! Meet on the farmhouse deck for a discussion on the history of truffle production in Oregon as well as an introduction to the farm.

You and the rest of the band of adventurers will head out with the four-legged associates into the truffière. What will we find? Do they have different aromas? So many questions and the dogs are here, ready to answer them!

You will have a ring-side position watching the dogs locate ripe truffles….and when they do, you will have a hands-on opportunity to smell truffles in the soil and perhaps even dig them out for yourself! Please wear clothes that can stand a bit of mud for that reason– this is a farm after all.

3 pm — Back to the farmhouse to clean truffles and chat more. Any truffles that are available from hunts will be available for purchase at a special rate.

4pm– Depart, swag in hand, ready to explore what the Southern Willamette has to offer!

About the Experience & Wild Hunt

Truffle hunting is inherently an outdoor sport. We operate rain, shine, sun, and snow. For part of this adventure, you will be outdoors, in the elements, whatever they may be. During the wild portion of our hunt, you will be in the forest walking over uneven terrain.

If you have concerns about this, or mobility issues, please contact us prior to booking. Moderate walking/hiking ability is advised for this portion of the experience, and sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended.

BIO SECURITY

For Biosecurity reasons, please bring a change of shoes/ boots to wear on the Truffle Orchard, that are not being worn out in the forest. Both locations may be muddy, but better traction shoes (ie hiking boots) are more suitable for the forest.

About the Truffière

Cartwright Truffière, nestled in the Willamette Valley, is one of the most productive truffle Orchards in the US, ranked #1 or #2 by volume for Perigord truffle (Tuber melanosporum). This is a very rare and special occasion we are excited to share with you, our community!
