The last in our series of Survival Basics for Truffle Hunting, join us with Expert wilderness instructor Hannah Libby of the Wilderness Awareness School discussing techniques for starting and maintaining a fire in various conditions. Discover different fire-starting methods, gather tips on finding and preparing tinder, and understand the principles of fire safety. Acquire the knowledge to keep warm, cook food, and purify water as well as learn about techniques for purification and procuring safe drinking water in the wilderness.

About Hannah Libby

Originally from Vermont, Hannah graduated from the Immersion at Wilderness Awareness School in 2015, where she is now a lead instructor.  Before heading out to the Pacific Northwest she acquired her BA in Restoration Ecology & Conservation Biology with two minors in Astrobiology and Marine Science. For her final thesis, she designed and implemented a Forest Stewardship program providing paid work-study positions for students interested in pursuing passions and studies in the natural world. Hannah has been a Nature Guide and Survival Skills Educator for the last 10 years.  Deeply in love with the arts, she has been drawing, taking photos, and making jewelry as long as she has known she has had hands! She also recently became certified as a Natural Science Illustrator.
