At Truffle Dog Company, we teach dogs to find truffles recreationally, and also work with orchard owners worldwide to train dogs for professional-level harvesting in plantation settings (orchards specifically planted with European truffle species). We partner with orchard owners and professionals across the industry. We also harvest and sell our native wild truffles commercially, giving some of our graduates the opportunity to spend more time in the woods with their canine partners while we handle order fulfillment.

Private lessons are available for students of all levels and are conducted in whatever setting best fits your team’s current skill level. This Zoom lesson is designed for everything from puppy and foundational stages through the intermediate level, as well as field work consults that don’t require being in the field. These lessons are conducted from the comfort of your home.

If this is your first Zoom private lesson with us, we may recommend specific materials to have on hand based on your level. Once you’ve purchased a lesson, we’ll check in with you to discuss what’s needed before hopping on Zoom together.

We design every session to set you and your dog up for success and build a positive reinforcement history while developing precise behaviors, handler skills, and your relationship as a working team.

Our instructors focus on building confidence, experience, and teamwork, with the goal of helping you develop into a reliable truffle dog team. Dogs typically learn the truffle scent quickly and can often locate a wild truffle in a short period of time — but finding one truffle is just the start. We help you reach the next level by working with your dog’s natural abilities and tailoring training to build consistent, reliable truffle-finding skills.

These Zoom lessons are primarily taught by our Puppy and Foundations Instructor, Victoria Gideon, or by Anthony Lujan, and may also be scheduled with Alana for advanced-level consults or orchard work.

The specific time of your lesson will be determined after purchase based on your current skill level — please let us know your availability. We try to keep you with the same instructor for continuity until you reach a new level or need a different perspective.

Private Zoom lessons can include a maximum of two handlers and two dogs (an additional fee of $75 applies for the second dog), with only one dog worked at a time for maximum learning potential.
