Description
Join us for a Truffle Experience at Cartwright Truffière nestled in the beautiful southern Willamette Valley, on Saturday, Jan. 21st, 2023.
This event starts at 1:30 pm.
We ask guests to arrive 15 minutes prior to starting.
1:30 pm- Meet on the farmhouse deck for light refreshments (coffee, tea, champagne, etc.) and a discussion on the history of truffle production in Oregon as well as an introduction to the farm.
2:45 pm--The exciting part. Let’s go hunting! You and the rest of the band of adventurers will adventure out with the four-legged associates into the truffière. What will we find? What do they feel like? Do they have different aromas? So many questions and the dogs are here, ready to answer them!
You will have a ring-side position watching the dogs locate ripe truffles….and when they do, you will have a hands-on opportunity to smell truffles in the soil and perhaps even dig them out for yourself! Please wear clothes that can stand a bit of mud for that reason– this is a farm after all.
3:45 pm — Back to the farmhouse where we’ll connect with Chef Andrew Hroza the Executive Chef at Ninkasi’s Living Room and recently voted “best local chef” by the Eugene Weekly! Chef Andrew will walk guests through a hands-on approach to creating one of the dishes you’ll be dining on, his famous Country truffle pate, and various accouterments before sitting down to enjoy a casual but delicious supper pairing wines from local William Rose Wines and the Oregon Wine Lab with your seasonal truffle themed menu.
You’ll learn all about harvesting and cleaning truffles, grading truffles, and you’ll learn plenty of tips and tricks for using truffles in just about any dish you want to make at home! Any truffles that are available from the hunt will be available for purchase at a special rate.
7-7:30– Depart, swag in hand, ready to relax and enjoy your night off, dreaming of truffles.
About the Truffière
Cartwright Truffière, nestled in the Willamette Valley, is one of the most productive truffle Orchards in the US, ranked #1 or #2 by volume for Perigord truffle (Tuber melanosporum). This is a very rare and special occasion we are excited to share with you, our community!
Accommodations
Accommodations are not included in this experience, however, we do have recommendations and a special relationship (depending on the time of year) with a local BnB that happens to also have a white truffle forest behind their property!
