This is just to let any students, or interested parties know (since not everyone will follow us on FB) that we will soon be getting Pecan Truffles (Tuber lyonii) in for students to train with, or if anyone wants some for culinary use.
For those of you EAST of the Rockies in the USA, this is the species (one of them) you will find. Or closely related. In California/ southern OR too. This species doesn’t occur in CA naturally, but is VERY similar (in VOC content) to whites that are found in association with oak in Southern OR/Cal, so it might not be a bad idea to work on some.
They aren’t listed on the website, so please send us an email if you’d like some to train with. These are found by truffle dog Izzy down in Georgia. These are fresh, but they last a very long time if cared for properly. More so than most species.
