Hi guys,
This is where you can talk to your classmates about whatever you wish – so get to know each other better here!
February 2, 2015 at 11:42 pm #3922Alana McGeeKeymasterI’ll start out.
Hi Everyone!
I’m Alana and I am one of the instructors of the course. A little about me:
I currently live in Edmonds, Wa (that’s just north of Seattle for those of you not from the US), which is actually the town I grew up in! Small world. It’s by the ocean (Puget Sound to be more exact!)
I live here with my 4 dogs, Duff (a big black lab mix), Ryu a Red tri-australian Shepherd, and two Lagotto Romagnolo, Lolo and Jean Luc.
Do I have a favorite truffle species to eat?
It’s a tough call. I really like Perigord Truffles (Tuber melanosporum) personally, but there is one in Europe I would love to try that apparently tastes like smoke- or bacon-y is how I’ve heard it described and I really want to try it (Tuber rufum).Something most people don’t know about me: I’m also a small scale oyster farmer 😉 Not commercially- but it is fun!

I live in Arlington, WA with My husband, three dogs and cat. Cash is a Shetland Sheepdog. Callie is a Border Collie. Da Vinci is a Belgian Tervuren. Bear is our 19 year old kitty who rules the house. My husband grew up locally. I was born in Kodiak, AK.
I compete in agility with Callie and Da Vinci. All three LOVE to do tricks!

My favorite truffles are Oregon blacks! Venison black truffle burgers frequent our dinner table during the winters here.Something most people don’t know about me: I am a Reiki Master Teacher, mesa carrier in the Peruvian shamanic tradition and Animal ReikiShamanic practitioner.

February 9, 2015 at 6:41 pm #3981LoisParticipantHi Everyone from Oak Ridge Tennessee! I am so thrilled and proud to be working with the Truffle Dog Company. I have worked through a number of online classes and recommend you just go for it and show some video. Post video of when things didn’t go as planned as opposed to the perfect training session. I got the best feedback when I started posts that started with “well it wasn’t a total train wreck….” I learned the most from the awkward moments.
I look forward to seeing video from the students and sharing my learning experience along the way.
February 21, 2015 at 6:07 pm #4077ErinParticipantHi all.
I’m Erin, just joined group. Was previously doing online class self directed and upgraded to full student
Mika is a 5 month old Formosan mountain dog, she’s a bit young for this but for now it’s a fun game. Just want to make sure I’m doing the teaching right!
Excited to learn the truffle hunt while I’ve neve done it before the family are avid mushroom foragers here in Washington. Live in ballard!February 21, 2015 at 9:47 pm #4081Alana McGeeKeymasterWelcome! And Local! You guys will have a great time learning, and Mika being young is not a problem- its just about finding the schedule that works well for her and all her puppy naps!
