TDC:
?I let her sniff them all and then if she doesn?t find it we start over until she alerts on one ? right or wrong. If she picks the wrong one I ignore it and let her choose between the other two -?
PERFECT. Very very good Mary. That is the right thing to do. Nicely done. Keep up the good work and keep practicing- by the next lesson, you?ll be very ready to turn her indications into identifiable and reliable alerts.
TDC:
Mary, this all sounds fantastic! I?m very happy to hear you are making a big deal out of the successes! That is a wonderful way to build duration for party that happens while you dig for a truffle.
If I remember correctly, you were hoping to teach Lola to find Morels as well?is that right? If so, keep it in the back of your mind that when we start working on alerts, you will want a more passive alert so she doesn?t damage the mushroom.
MARY:
Alana/Kristen ? thanks! We practiced twice yesterday and I can see some slow improvement. I have to be careful not to show frustration as Lola picks up on it quickly and then tries too hard ? at that point we have to stop. She has stopped putting the ?truffle? in her mouth though which is good.
The last session she was so excited she did a little squeal when she got to the bottom stair and started sniffing and batting the pots while I was getting ready to start ? I guess she was practicing? . As long as she having fun!!
I?ll try to post a video tomorrow.
