Cancellation and Rescheduling

Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

We know plans can change. Because many of our classes, lessons, adventures, and field experiences have limited enrollment and require advance preparation, travel, materials, and coordination, our cancellation policies vary by offering.

Please review the policy for your booking below.

Adventures, Field Days & Workshops

Our Adventures, Field Days, and Workshops require considerable advance planning and have a limited number of available spaces.

Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be received in writing at least 14 days before your scheduled event.

If you need to cancel before registration closes, we will do our best to fill your space with another team. If we are able to fill your spot, you will receive an account credit for the purchase price, less a $50 cancellation/rescheduling fee.

If we are unable to fill your spot, we cannot guarantee a credit or refund.

Cancellations received less than 14 days before the scheduled event, as well as no-shows, are not eligible for a refund, account credit, or transfer.

Refunds are not issued except in extraordinary circumstances or when Truffle Dog Company cancels an event and an appropriate rescheduling option cannot be provided.

Private Lessons

Private lessons require at least 48 business hours’ written notice to cancel or reschedule.

Cancellations or rescheduling requests made with less than 48 business hours’ notice, as well as no-shows, are not eligible for a refund, credit, or transfer.

Live Classes

Our live classes—including online cohort classes and in-person group classes—have limited enrollment. Your registration reserves a space that may otherwise have been available to another student.

If you need to cancel before registration closes and before student materials have been distributed, please contact us as soon as possible.

We will do our best to fill your space with another student. If we are able to fill your spot, we may issue an account credit for the purchase price, less a $50 cancellation/rescheduling fee.

Once registration has closed or class materials have been distributed, your registration is final and is not eligible for a refund, account credit, transfer, or exchange.

Missed classes cannot be made up by attending another scheduled class or cohort. Because each class has a specific enrollment and progression, please make sure you are able to attend the scheduled dates before registering.

No-shows are not eligible for refunds, credits, transfers, or make-up class time.

DIY & Self-Paced Classes

All DIY and self-paced class purchases are final once course materials or access have been sent or made available to you.

Because these products include immediate access to educational materials, digital content, course resources, or other proprietary training materials, we cannot offer refunds, credits, exchanges, or transfers after access has been provided.

Please review the course description carefully before purchasing to make sure the program is appropriate for you and your dog.

If you experience a technical issue accessing materials you purchased, please contact us so we can help resolve the access problem.

Dangerous or Disruptive Behavior

The safety and well-being of our students, staff, dogs, landowners, and partners is our priority.

If a dog is determined by an instructor to be unsuitable for participation in a group environment because of behavior that creates a safety risk or significantly disrupts the class, the dog may be asked to leave the working portion of the class.

In these situations, refunds will not be provided for unused class time. When appropriate and safe, the handler may be permitted to remain and audit the class without the dog.

If you have a highly reactive dog, significant behavioral concerns, or are unsure whether a particular class is appropriate for your dog, please contact us before enrolling. We may recommend a private lesson or consultation instead.

Unsportsmanlike conduct, harassment, verbal or physical abuse toward people or dogs, behavior that endangers another person or animal, or conduct that jeopardizes our ability to use an event location may result in immediate removal from the program.

This includes unauthorized visits to or contact with private properties, landowners, hunting locations, event sites, or other locations used by Truffle Dog Company.

Removal for these reasons does not entitle the participant to a refund, credit, transfer, or continued access to program materials.

Weather & Conditions

Truffle hunting is an outdoor activity, and many of our programs take place during the colder and wetter months of the year. We generally operate in rain, sun, and snow when conditions are safe.

However, severe or hazardous conditions—including high winds, ice, heavy snow, wildfire conditions, unsafe road conditions, or other circumstances beyond our control—may require us to modify, postpone, relocate, or cancel an event or class, sometimes on short notice.

If Truffle Dog Company cancels an Adventure, Field Day, Workshop, private lesson, or class because conditions are unsafe, we will work with registered participants to provide an appropriate rescheduling, make-up, credit, or refund option depending on the circumstances and type of program.

Weather-related decisions are made with the safety of participants, dogs, staff, and our property partners in mind.

If you are planning a truffle-hunting Adventure and would prefer to reduce the likelihood of winter weather disruptions, consider booking during mid-March through early May. Conditions from December through February can be less predictable.
